RMK Soomaa Nature Centre

Keskus:RMK Soomaa Nature Centre

The Soomaa Nature Centre is located in the Soomaa National Park, in Kõrtsi-Tõramaa Village. The Soomaa National Park, one of Ramsar wetlands of international importance, was established in 1993. Its predecessors were the botanical reserve of the Halliste wooded meadow, founded in 1957, and four wetland reserves: Kuresoo, Valgeraba, Kikepera and Öördi. The National Park was established to preserve, protect, restore, study, and popularise the large bogs, flooded meadows, forests, landscapes and cultural heritage, and the balanced use of the environment in central Estonia.

In the national park, you can explore large bogs, floodplain forests and flooded meadows and local cultural history, and experience the fifth season – the flooding – in Soomaa. The hiking trails and observation towers of the national park provide good opportunities for all these activities.
