The Särghaua Earth Science Centre promote, develop and deliver highly effective outdoor and environmental education programs and activities for schools and the community, and provide professional development for teachers. The focus of the Centre is to introduce the diversity of non-living nature covering a variety of geosciences, with the main focus on geology as well as geography, hydrology, energy, and climate.
We offer the following study programs:
The Centre is equipped with modern research tools – stereomicroscopes with cameras, Vernier’s environmental sensors with Data-Collection and analyses software, digital weather station, telescope, and various geological collections – minerals, rocks, fossils, drill cores. In our rock-lab is a unique opportunity to engage in cutting, grinding and polishing of rocks, also the preparation of fossils from rocks.
All guests are invited to visit the exhibition “Boreholes and drill cores” and to attend a short program to examine the Estonian geology.
We also offer the centre’s facilities for field camps, conferences and training courses.
The Centre can be visited upon prior agreement. Pre-registration is required for educational activities, accommodation and rental of premises.
